Dragons Under 6's
Our Dragons U6s are passionate about having fun. At this age, it’s all about the kids learning how enjoyable playing sport can be. The Mini-Rugby format provides a great foundation to introduce children (boys and girls) to sport and exercise, build confidence and skills, in a fun and engaging way.
At this age group, the coaches aim is to teach the children what it’s like to be a part of a team. We focus on team and club spirit, the importance of supporting your team mates, playing fair, and how to be a good sport. All of which are valuable lifelong lessons. The coaches are all volunteer Dads, with kids on the squad, who are passionate about sport.
The format for Mini-Rugby is great for family’s who have never been exposed to Rugby. Mini-Rugby is non-contact extremely simplified version of Rugby designed for 5 – 7-year old’s. It’s easy for the kids to pick up, and they learn ball skills that can be easily transferred to other sports in the future. The training sessions are often split up into different groups with the newer kids participating in simpler drills. As they develop their confidence and skills we progress them forward to join the more experienced kids.
There is lots of Mini-Rugby for everyone. Our Dragons U6s participate in two Singapore Mini-rugby leagues per year with each league consisting of 8 games played over 4 weekends. There are also two 2-3 Singapore tournaments per year and for those willing to travel we participate in two international tournaments each year. Each tournament averages 6 games over the weekend.
Training is at 4:30pm to 5.30pm every Saturday at UWC East playing field, which parents like as it provides the opportunity to participate in other activities on Saturday mornings. Kids are welcome to come to one or two try-outs classes before committing, so they can get comfortable with their fellow Dragons. Each player gets a free Icy Bon Bons at the end of the training

2017 Team Honours
KL Saracens 2017
Our Mighty Dragons U6s were runners up in the U6 cup final. After topping the tournament table on day one they won the semi final on day two. The final game was against our arch rivals Tanglin who fronted 8 players v our 7 Dragons. Our mighty U6s playing with one player down fought to make it 3-3. That pushed us to overtime and the first try was scored by Tanglin who won the match. Our 7 dragons really gave it there all over the two days. We are all so proud and impressed with all our U6s. We look forward to playing Tanglin A again on March 19th, at the SCC Mini League Tournament this time with a full team, 8 v 8.- Coach Dean
KL Tigers International Rugby 10's 2017
U6 & U7
This year the U6 and U7 teams combined forces for the KL Tigers tournament, put in a very competitive performance and all the kids had an amazing time!
Over the course of the 10 games that the team played over the weekend, that were a lot of dramatic moments, with each and every player having some exciting plays and scores.
At the end of the pools games, Dragons had played 9 games, won 4, lost 4 and tied 1. Within those games, we never lost a game by more than 1 try, (including a 1-0 loss to the eventual cup winners) and in the games, we won, we had the highest scoring games of the tournament. A very strong performance in defense and attack.
At the knockout stage, history looked like it may repeat itself. We were up against the Cobrats again this year, who we beat last year to win the plate. The game was a real nail biter with every single player leaving it all out on the pitch, but the Cobrats finished out the game ahead by one try.
A tough tournament, but the improvement over the weekend in all the players was dramatic and they all had a great time.
A big thank you to all the parents for supporting us over the weekend and their commitment to the club!
And thanks to my fellow coaches for all their great work with the team!
