Dragons Rugby Club - Under 16's Years Old

Dragons Rugby Club - Under 17s

WELCOME TO THE UNDER 16's

(Training: Saturday 1.00pm - 2.30pm)

[Head Coach: Eddie]

[Team Manager: Nora]

The U16’s core philosophy is "do the simple things well with intent and accuracy."  As such our training concentrates on sharpening all the basic skills of rugby so they can be executed accurately and safely  in games,  especially under pressure.

Skills and knowledge of the game we can teach but intent, mindset and accurate decision making under fire must come from the boys. Intent is paramount , as the boys move up age groups “winning the contact” in attack or defence  becomes ever more crucial.  A high work rate on or off the ball, in both training and under live fire is expected as is showing respect to your teammates, your opposition , match officials, coach’s and parents alike. Our mantra is trust yourself and the guys next to you, this is one of the biggest challenges facing junior rugby players.

We have an experienced coaching staff and welcome all players , especially those who are new to the game.

Coach’s - Simon, Suhaimi and Peter.

Dragons U14 came in as Bowl Champs and finished an overall 5th in the 1st Division. Score in the final was 5-5 and won by scoring the first try via Dom Wesbury

KL Saracens International Rugby 10s 2017

The U14’s had a great weekend of rugby playing 6 games, winning 4 and taking away the Shield. They really demonstrated that they are now a force to be reckoned with, playing a mature, controlled and patient game all weekend.

Our campaign started on Saturday morning with our toughest game, up against SEMASH one of the local Malay sides and eventual winners of the cup final. The boys played gallantly and only went down by 1 try during what was a nail biting contest that saw the Dragons control the entire game in both defense an attack. During the rest of the pool games the boys stepped up a gear piling on 6 tries and ending he day in equal second place in the pool.

The Sunday started with out last pool game and unfortunately some liberal interpretation of the laws left us short going down to KLSS by 1 try. This left us in 3 place in the pool and into the Shield play-offs. The boys shook off the loss and took it up a gear again coming out to beat Integom by one super try putting us through to the shield final.

The Shield final was an all Singapore affair with the Dragons stepping up against our old rivals SCC. SCC came out fast and furious, taking it to the boys physically in all the contact. The boys didn’t panic and stepped up to play their game controlling the ball and patiently waiting for their opportunity. This eventually came with our flying winger being put into the corner off some controlled forward play setting the platform for some awesome closure by the backs. Overall a fantastic weekend for the boys. They really showed that they have matured into a cohesive unit who now understand the finesse of the game. Fantastic to watch and made all of the coaches and parents very proud. Coaches Matt & Craig

KL Tigers International Rugby 10s 2017

U14 experienced a successful weekend of rugby and ended up Plate Winners on Sunday after a hard-fought final game against KL Saracans. With only 13 players in the squad, the boys had to work hard over the weekend to achieve this result.  There were only 3 losses over the tournament, and all by a single try so Dragons U14 are not far off the pace of the top teams.

Well done to the squad and we’re back into the league this weekend.
